This kit has 5 pieces of the MEL-BL (Micro Effects Light, Blacklight) that operates from a 9V battery with included battery clip that has a DC barrel connector plug that attaches to the light body. These micro effects lights use a 405mm high output violet LED with a narrow spotlight pattern. These lights provide for a strong glow of ultraviolet fluorescent paints in dark settings. The violet 405nm wavelength light is at the edge of the visible light spectrum just outside of the UVA ultraviolet energy band. This wavelength allows a high amount of violet light output that works well with many fluorescent materials such as paints, tapes, and inks to produce a strong glow. The black plastic body of the micro effects light is textured and can be adhered to surfaces with hot glue or gaffers tape for building props and scenery. The light uses a common 2.1mmx 5.5mm DC barrel connector. Operating time from a new 9V battery is typically greater than 24 hours. The violet LED black light projects a beam of light that is narrow focused and can produce a glow of various materials at a distance of several feet in a dark room. The MEL-BL (Micro Effects Light, Blacklight) is a professional use prop and scenery lighting device. The MEL-BL can be operated from 12 volts DC which provides a slight increase in light output but reduces overall life longevity of the light. These 405nm violet lights have no visible white light glow often found with 365mm LED ultraviolet sources.
